Big Ben was today voted Britain’s best-loved landmark.Westminster’s world famous, 316-ft-high clock tower claimed the title in a new survey commissioned by Beautiful Britain magazine. The clock’s “bongs”, which open ITN’s News At Ten programme, are witnessed by millions of tourists every year. Second place went to Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument built between 3000BC and 2000BC and today a renowned World Heritage Site. The legendary White Cliffs of Dover – celebrated in the hit song – came third in the survey.
